September 13, 2005 > 4th Annual Tea Garden Party for DeafHope

This year's fundraising event for DeafHope, a nonprofit organization established for and by Deaf women whose mission is to end domestic violence and sexual assault against Deaf women and children through empowerment, education and services, will be held this Saturday at the home of Julie Rems-Smario.

DeafHope is inviting its circle of friends and supporters to Julie's home in Castro Valley for this unique backyard garden event to raise awareness and funds for Deaf women and children who are survivors of domestic and sexual abuse.

Wear your favorite HAT and mingle. There will be a hat contest, silent auction and live action! Prizes for Most Creative, Most Flowery, and most Colorful Hats!! Bring your checkbooks to support this important cause!

Catering will be provided-a variety of tea will be served with special pastries, sandwiches and sweets provided by Hildy and Starbucks.

Tea Garden Party Special Deaf Women Guests' Program will include emcee Kate Kovacs aka The Mad Hatter with keynote speaker: a.j. granda, Deaf Motivation Speaker and Deaf-Blind Leader. A presentation by Sheri Farinha, CEO of NorCal Center on Deafness "The Do's and Don'ts of Deaf Women in Leadership Positions" and Surviving Ovarian Cancer as a Deaf Woman, Joyce Lynch, Retired Deaf Broadcaster of NewsSign 4 from KRON TV "I Am Still A Woman!" Other presentations will include DeafHope Trailblazer Award 2005 Presentation to TERRYLENE, www.Terrylene.com, a special presentation by Molly Bowen, CODA, mother, and interpreter "A Tribute to Deaf Mothers." Voice interpreting donated by Robin Mills and a special gift for everyone from Hildy Licht, a renowned Los Altos artist.
