The East Bay Regional Park District will host a celebration of cultural diversity at Family Heritage Day on Saturday, August 27 from Noon - 4:00 p.m. at Coyote Hills Regional Park in Fremont. Family Heritage Day highlights the rich multi-cultural history and diversity of the East Bay through a celebration of colorful dance, music and traditional cultural foods. In addition, get to know Coyote Hills Regional Park and Visitor Center and enjoy guided nature walks, native games, and children's crafts at this family friendly event. This free event will spotlight musical entertainment from South India, Persia, Brazil, Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador, Argentina and the Caribbean. Popular Bay Area performers are part of the lineup, including Liza Silva and her "Voz do Brasil" band, which have performed at San Francisco Carnival and Cirque du Soleil. Also "The Soca Sisters" Caribbean Steel Pan (drum) trio will perform along with the "La Amaranto" Trio who feature music from the Andes, Peru, and Mexico. Diverse cultural dance will also be presented through local troupes "Swetha Dixit," "Kalaikoil," and "Niosha" showcasing the beautifully choreographed classical dances representing South India, Persia and the Middle East. Coyote Hills is at the west end of Patterson Ranch Road and Commerce Drive in Fremont. From I-880, take Highway 84 west, exit at Paseo Padre Parkway and drive north. Turn left on Patterson Ranch Road, and continue to 8000 Patterson Ranch Road.
