Charity Golf Tournament
Barone's Restaurant in Pleasanton and Spin-a-Yarn in Fremont have teamed up to present their second Charity Golf Tournament benefiting the Valley Care Foundation and the Housing Consortium of the East Bay.
The two restaurant owners have known each other for over 30 years. Joe Barone opened his restaurant in Pleasanton and Saki Kavouniaris opened Spin-a-Yarn in Fremont. Together they started the golf tournament a couple of years ago. Both feel that they are in a position to help out others and each has their own charity. Barone chose Valley Care, a hospital foundation in Pleasanton and Kavouniaris chose the Housing Consortium, a home ownership program designed to meet needs of people with developmental disabilities or have family members with developmental disabilities living with them.
Last year's event raised nearly $35,000 and the money was split between the two charities. Nearly 160 golfers played last year and this year they expect almost as many. There is a limited time left to sign up for rounds at Castlewood Country Club in Pleasanton.
The participants of the event will receive lunch, contest prizes and a Hawaiian barbeque at Spin a Yarn. The event will feature silent and live auctions and all are welcome to attend.
For more information call Joseph Barone at (925) 426-0987 or Saki Kavouniaris at (510) 656-9141.
