Firefighters turn up the heat on the 4th of July
Newark firefighters will turn up the heat this July 4 as they invite everyone to start the day's activities with a good breakfast served at Station #3 at Mowry Avenue and Cherry Street in Newark. This year will be the fourth time the members of Newark Firefighters Association Local #1483 have fired up grills to cook pancakes and sausages served with orange juice and coffee.
Morning activities will include "jaws of life" demonstrations, a raffle and viewing of modern and antique fire apparatus. All proceeds will benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association in partnership with "Jerry's Kids." Tickets are available at the breakfast, but advance tickets can be purchased at the Newark Fire Administration office 6170 Thornton Ave., Ste. D. (510) 790-7218. Sponsors include International House of Pancakes, Starbucks and the Tri-City Voice newspaper.
