Fireworks are legal in Newark
Fireworks are not allowed in the cities of Fremont, Union City, Hayward and Milpitas, but in Newark, Safe and Sane fireworks are permitted.
All Newark parks are off limits to fireworks. The use of "Safe and Sane" fireworks will be restricted to residential areas between the hours of midnight June 30 to midnight July 4. Safe and Sane fireworks may be obtained at authorized fireworks booths only and are distinguished by the state Fire Marshal-approved imprint on the package. Sales will be permitted from noon to 9 p.m. on June 28 and between 8 to 9 p.m. June 29 through July 4.
A partial list of illegal fireworks include: firecrackers, bottle rockets, roman candles and airborne fountains.
