Flying Fish Win 'Title Wave'by Praveena Raman
Club Sport Fremont's Flying Fish team outdid themselves and placed first at the 14 and under short course relay swim meet at Mills Aquatic Center, Mills College on May 22nd, 2005. Teams from all over the Bay area participated in the meet sponsored by the Montclair swim team. "This is their sixth time attending [the relay meet] and first win" said Mark Carter, Aquatics Director. "They have however moved up each year, from third in 2002, to a distant second in 2003 to a close second in 2004 to this year's Title Wave Win (300 + pts)."
The team was led by the 10 and under age group. The girl's team including Kimberly Ho, Kathleen Nguyen, Irene Chon And Samantha Torres, placed first in the all girls Free Relay and second in Medley Relay. Dominic Rapp, Justin Ho, Garrett Chan, Daniel Lim, Alex Yaung of the boys team also placed first in both all boys relays. In mixed (boys-girls) relays, the 9 and 10 year olds placed first in the 200 Indiana, 200 breast and 200 Free/Back and second in the 200 Fly.
Other 9 and 10 year olds who swam in the B and C relay teams were: Girls: Eileen Wong, Elains Limqueco, Catherine Chao, Jennifer Lai, Monika Sacher; Boys: Aaron Brown, Brandon Hoang, Aaron Lu, Austin Chen, Andrew Wang, Eric Lam, Allen Yao, Jon Xu, Calvin Lee, Nathan Crooks, Nathan Wong, Dennis Chang, Austin Yu, Ulric Chia, Brandon Chen and Brian Yuen.
In the 11/12 age group, Amy Lam, Jennifer Xu, Eileen Nguyen, and Victoria Lee placed first in the 200 Indiana and the team consisting of Victoria Lee, Jennifer Xu, Lauren Damian and Sasha Alcon placed first in the 200 Fly.
In the 13/14 age group, the mixed (boys/girls) team of Jennifer Bone, Jessica Tu, Anthony Chon and Eric Lin placed first in the 200 breast.
The last race of the Relay Meet was a Progressive Freestyle Relay with an 8/U swimming 25 yards, a 9/10 swimming 50 yards, an 11/12 swimming 75 yards and 13/14 swimming 100 yards. In this event, the girls team Ashley Hsu, Kimberly Ho, Victoria Lee and Jennifer Bone placed second. For the boys, Andrew Ho, Justin Ho, Jeff Pietkiewicz, and Rohan Patnaik placed first while Warren Tian, Daniel Lim, William Hsia, and Dennis Woo placed second. |
