Presentations and Proclamations
Demetrius Shaffer has been hired as Newark's Fire Chief and was introduced to the Council and the city of Newark at the meeting. Police Officer Mike Carrol has been named Officer of the Year and received a commendation for his achievement. Dispatcher Marci Manuel has been named Dispatcher of the Year and was awarded a commendation as well.

Optimist International has designated the month of June as Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. A proclamation was prepared and Marla Blowers was present to accept it on behalf of the Optimist Club. The month of June was also proclaimed as Business Appreciation Month in the city of Newark. A proclamation was prepared and members of the Chamber of Commerce were present at the meeting to accept it.
