Fremont Cultural Arts Council's 18th Annual Young Artists Showcase held on, May 1 at Ohlone College, showcased the talents of Tri-City youth in vocal, instrumental and dance categories.

Performances included: Piano solo: Beverly Wang, Wiggin Wu, Benjamin Tien and Christine Hsueh. Vocal solo: Luna Chang, A.K. Valdez, Laurie Resnick, Cindy Tantilert, Nailah Young and Alycia Nicole Rose. Harp solo: Rebecca Hung. Piano duet: Florence Hsiao and Chermaine Hung, and Daniel Hsu and Vivian Wang. Lyrical dance: Sara Carter, Jessica Lester and Dance group. West coast swing: Shane and Leana, and Dance group. Yang-Qin solo: Pin-han Chen. Jazz dance: Dance Group.

The Showcase also included a display of winning artwork and photography. This year the photography division included two winners, Joanne Chen and Veronica Tse. The visual arts division included five winners, Pancheta Kokate, Connie Lin, Amy Hoffman, Britney Hyder and Jiemeng Zhang.

Honorable mention recipients included:
Dance: Brandy, Brian and Jasmine, Cabaret, Sidney Tafuri, Via Dolorosa and Morgan Waltrip.
Instrumental: Rina Li, Sharon Su, Lana Tong, Trio- Grace Li, Tiffany Vu and Olivia Yue.
Vocal: Zarin Khan and Karthik Raman.
Photography: Ivan Pandev, Amy Saito and Greg Wolfe.
Visual Arts: Ahmad Adlparvar, Adrian Chen, Crystal Duenas, Connie Lin, Vladislav Ruskovoloshin, Cherielynn Tsay, Serena Wu, Stephanie Wu and Supriya Yelimeli.

Their art will be on display in the Fremont Main Library throughout May. The Showcase awarded scholarships of $50 to Showcase participants and winning visual artists.
