Bay Aerials Gymnastic Take First Place Trophyby Jay Dore
Lena Liu of Bay Aerials Gymnastic in Fremont continued her terrific season with another first place finish in the all-around at the Level 7 Bay Area Classic meet in Walnut Creek on Saturday, March 6. The first place finish was Liu's sixth of the season. Liu, competing in the older division, scored a 37.05 in the all-around, placing first on the bars with a 9.475 and first on the beam with a 9.20. She also scored a 9.20 to place second on vault and a 9.175 for a third on floor. Alexandra Buttars also had an outstanding meet with a 36.575 all-round to place second in the older division. Buttars landed a first on vault with a 9.225, placed third on the bars and beam, and took fourth place on the floor. Shenel Harris was third in the all-around with a 36.15. Harris also scored a second place on the floor with a 9.225. Stefeni Gyulai placed first on floor with a 9.275, putting her fifth in the all-around. Gina Liu placed second on beam with a 9.075 and fourth on bars with a 9.15. Bay Aerials also swept the top three spots in the middle division all-round, with Crystal Paz leading the way with a 36.275. Paz placed first on floor with a 9.40, second on bars with a 9.20, and also took third on the vault. Kaitlin Dore earned a second in the all-round with a 36.125. Dore tied with teammate Katie Biddle for second on floor with a 9.325 and was second on beam with a 9.025. Trina Duarte was consistent across all four events to finish in third place with an all-round 36.10. Duarte's performance included a second on vault and third on beam. In addition to her second on floor, Biddle placed sixth all-around. Stephanie Chan had a strong meet to place second in the younger division all-around with a score of 36.10. Chan earned first place finishes on bars (9.25) and beam (9.275) and a second on floor (9.125). Bay Aerials' Level 7 team took home the first place trophy. |
