Dominican Sisters Return to Saint Martin Residence
Gathered in Saint Joseph Priory, a group of Dominican Sisters of Mission San Jose were reminded by Prioress General Sister Rose Marie Hennessy of their earlier trepidation and fear when, 15 months ago, they were asked to leave their homes in the Caring Center to allow extensive renovation of the building. Many were concerned and asked, "Where will we stay?" "Where will we eat?" "Where will we pray?" The months required to refurbish the facility seemed to stretch beyond imagination and some wondered if they would ever see their "home" again.
This time, on March 9, moving day had come again but under much different circumstances. A line of sisters traveled the short distance under sunny and warm skies toward the new facilities. As they began to inspect their new rooms, the air was filled with exclamations of joy and relief. Fresh and bright rooms greeted them, each with individual temperature controls, significant closet space and private bathrooms.
An Open House of the retrofitted and renovated Motherhouse Chapel and St. Martin Residence will be held on Sunday, April 3. This will mark the completion of the Circles of Caring Project. |
