Spring is in Bloom in Nilesby Ceri Hitchcock-Hodgson
Although it can get quite cold this time of year, spring abounds in Niles. Saturday, Jan. 22 the Annual Rose Pruning at the Niles Rose Garden will be open to the public for a day of fun in the winter sun. The Niles Rose Garden has been renovated and maintained by the Friends of Heirloom Flowers, one of whom, Rosarian Kate Lippman, will be on hand to offer pruning tips. You can add to your time by picnicking on the adjacent acre of land or by visiting the popular butterfly garden.
The Annual Rose Pruning at Niles Rose Garden is free to the public. If the event is rained out Jan. 22, it will be held on Jan. 29. The Niles Rose Garden is located at the intersection of Niles Blvd. at Nursery Blvd. in Fremont, across from Adobe Nursery. The garden is open daily from 9:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. (closed on Tuesdays).
