Boat Safety - Coast Guard Styleby George M. Moore
Beginning in January, Fremont's Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 12-5 is offering a six-week course in boating skills and seamanship. There is a $60 fee, which covers all books and materials for the course.
The course will begin at 7 p.m. on Wednesday January 19, 2005 and will be held every Wednesday evening from 7-9 p.m. in the Fremont area.
The course will explore various aspects of choosing a boat, rules of the road, basic knot tying, seamanship, navigation and radio use-all the basic skills needed for safe boating. Evidence of satisfactory completion of the course qualifies many boat owners for a reduction in their insurance costs.
To enroll in the course, or for further information, please contact Stuart Hunter at (510) 505-1077. You can also email him at shunter3@sbcglobal.net. Enrollment will be accepted in the order received and enrollees will be provided with directions to the course meeting site.
