Join the Job Club at the Fremont One-stop Career Center
Have you conducted a personal assessment of your job skills? Are you aware of the importance of networking? Have you developed a resume that gets noticed? Do you know how to handle yourself in interviews?
If you answered no to one or more of these questions you should consider signing up for the free workshops put on by ProNet. ProNet is the Fremont chapter of the State of California Employment Development Department's (EDD) Experience Unlimited Job Club.
ProNet is a self-directed, volunteer-led networking group geared to helping professional, managerial and technical personnel find employment.
Workshop #1, Self-assessment & Preparation: Self-assessment of your skills and proper preparation for marketing yourself. Mondays, 9 a.m. - 12 p.m.
Workshop #2, Basic Job Search: Where and how you should be looking for your next job. Tuesdays, 9 a.m. - 12 p.m.
Workshop #3, Resumes: Review resume do's and don'ts, the key elements and discussion of scanned resumes. Wednesdays, 9 a.m. - 12 p.m.
Workshop #4, Interviews: Covers the common questions asked, how to deal with illegal questions, types of interviews, and how to prep for them. Thursdays, 9 a.m. - 12 p.m.
Besides the basic workshops, ProNet members can sign up for advanced classes on effective cover letter writing, critiques of personal resumes and videotaped interview practice sessions. ProNet members network via weekly general meetings featuring guest speakers that are informational and motivational in the job search process. ProNet members are also invited to join a YahooGroup, which posts job opportunities and allows them to network with other members via email. Members are asked to contribute time on a weekly basis to support the organization. There are four teams to choose from, Training, IT, Data/Admin and Marketing.
ProNet is located within the EDD offices at 39155 Liberty Street, Suite B-200, in Fremont. For more information visit the ProNet web site at www.pronet-fremont.org or call (510) 794-3681. |
