Bunker School Kids Host a Fundraising Carnivalby Florence Ion
One of the largest and most popular Tri-City school-wide fundraising events took place in Newark on October 15th. Residents from throughout the area could be found at Bunker Elementary School's 12th annual Walk-a-Thon, raising money for a host of school programs whose funds have been reduced or lost to state budget cuts.
The school took on a festive atmosphere with carnival-like game booths and "feel-good" food while students walked around a track on campus to fulfill financial pledges by their sponsors. Holly Moloney, Chairperson of the Walk-a-Thon Committee, called it, "One of our best Walk-a-Thon's ever."
Walk-a-Thon participants circled the track more than 120 times raising $7,500!
