Gary LeathermanTeacher art show gala opening set for Nov. 3rd
A gala opening has been scheduled Nov. 3 from 5-8:30 p.m. for an exhibition of artwork by Fremont Unified School District teachers to be on display for two months in the FUSD Education Center, 4210 Technology Drive. The Mission San Jose High School Jazz Band is scheduled to perform. FUSD art students and local dignitaries have been invited to talk about the importance of art in education. Light refreshments will be served.
The event will kick off the second year of art exhibitions at the FUSD Education Center. Last year the halls of the first floor of the Education Center were converted into exhibition space for paintings, drawings and sculpture. Student art was displayed during the second semester of the school year.
The teacher exhibit is scheduled to be displayed through December and new student art is to be installed in January. Exhibit organizer Susan Manbeian said some work by MSJHS students also will be displayed during the fall show. Manbeian said the work of 15 teachers has been accepted for exhibition and more is expected to be submitted before the show opens. Much of the work is for sale, she said. Artists will be on hand to discuss their work at the opening reception and those who cannot attend will provide contact information for prospective customers.
Anyone interested in further information and teachers who are interested in exhibiting work should call Manbeian at 656-3500, Ext. 38-003. |
