LOV Kicks Off 16th Season of Sunday Afternoon Concertsby Shirley Sisk
On Sunday, October 10 at 2 pm The League of Volunteers and the Newark Arts Council, in partnership with The Fremont Symphony Orchestra, will present Saaz Afghan Fusion Ensemble. Saaz (meaning "music" in Dari and Pashtu, the 2 languages of Afghanistan) create a fusion of traditional and modern music with its distinct blend of Eastern and Western tradition.
The talented members of the ensemble are Azam Parvanta, acoustic & electric guitars, Wally Parvanta, acoustic guitar, Hamed Shalizi, keyboards & harmonium and Khalid Shaliza, tabla( drums). Partnering of The League of Volunteers and The Fremont Symphony Orchestra is a first and will provide a wonderful musical experience for concert goers. On display will be the Afghan sculpture of Sami Nadi.
Complimentary refreshments served during intermission.
Admission is $6 adults, $4 Seniors (62+) and Students 12-18. Children under 12 - $2 Doors open at 1 p.m. the concert is at 2 p.m.
