New Dean of Counseling at Ohlone College
Ohlone Community College District is pleased to announce that Martha Brown, Associate Professor of Counseling-Hearing Impaired, has been appointed to serve as the Interim Dean of Counseling and DSPS Coordinator beginning October 1, 2004 through May 31, 2005. She replaces Dr. Mindy Hersh for the remainder of the academic year. As Brown moves from a faculty position to an interim administrative assignment, she will step down from her role as the Faculty Senate president. Brown retains the responsibilities of DSPS coordinator and Workability III while serving as interim dean. She will return to her faculty position for the 2005-06 academic year.
Brown has been a counselor with Ohlone since 1990. While she initially served as a counselor for deaf students, she soon began work as the coordinator of DSPS and Workability. Dr. Lisa Waits, vice-president of Student Services said of Brown: "Martha has a strong commitment to student success and she will provide valuable leadership in the counseling department and its many student support functions as we begin the work of achieving our [new] college goals." Ohlone College welcomes Martha Brown to the administration team and wishes her every success in her new role. |
