Centerville Junior High School Meets the New School Year with a Facelift
The reality series, "Extreme Makeover" has nothing on Centerville Junior High School. On Wednesday, August 25th, Principal Garo Mirigian proudly welcomed the community to experience the difference a summer can make. Gone are the old, worn buildings and classrooms sagging towards Fremont Boulevard. Now, ten bright, new structures and attractive landscaping have been added to the school to welcome students and visitors, expand capacity and introduce amenities such as electrical outlets that function on demand.
Representing some of the use of 2002 Health and Safety Bond funds, the difference is amazing. The parking lot and drop off/ pick up area for children has been improved to include a drop off circle which is welcome change for traffic on Fremont Boulevard while bringing a huge sigh of relief to parents, teachers and administrators who worried about the safety of children getting out of or into cars on the busy street.
This week, students will have their chance to settle into their "new" school and initial reactions are positive. According to Dr. Mirigian and Superintendent John Rieckewald, Centerville Junior High is "ready for business!" Congratulations! |
