One Bear Update

Bear Party 2004! This exciting event on July 17th resulted in 426 Teddy Bears and Friends for League of Volunteers; this did not include the donation bids from the silent auctions. The total number of received donations from the silent auctions was 746, bringing the number of donated Teddys and Friends to LOV to 1,172, delivered to LOV representatives on August 16, 2004. Thank you to all who gave of your time and your teddys and friends, your support and effort is what made this happen.

Special guests and visitors included: DeVon Hardin, 2004 Newark Memorial Honors Graduate; James Hundon (and son Jalen) from the Arena Bowl XVIII Champion San Jose SaberCats; Union City Police and Police Explorers, City of Fremont Fire Station #3 personnel including Captain Higgins, Rich Simon and Bob Care; Tom Grappone from the City of Newark, Hayward Storytellers, Minerva's Catering and Restaurant, Kiowa Rose, Kiwanis Club of Fremont; Mayor Gus Morrison, Chief Craig Steckler and Planning Commissioner Bob Wieckowski.
