Fremont's First Outdoor Quilt Showby Praveena Raman
Fremont Resident Sandra Jorgenson and the Mission San Jose Chamber of Commerce will present an outdoor quilt show in historic Mission San Jose area of Fremont (along Mission Boulevard near Washington Boulevard) on August 28th 2004. Inspired by an outdoor quilt show organized by Jean Wells in Sister's Oregon, Sandra decided to celebrate her 50th birthday by organizing one in Fremont.
The featured artist of the show will be Marsha Squires whose quilts include a singular work with a log cabin design. Many local quilters will also be displaying their works of art. In addition, Jean Wells (a well-known quilter and author of several books on quilts and quilting) will be sending her quilts from Oregon to be added to the display.
The quilts will be exhibited for one day in front of Mission San Jose and businesses around it. This is an opportunity for people to see a variety of quilt designs and have a good time. The free show will be from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Community members wishing to assist as volunteers can get more information by visiting www.msjchamber.org or calling (510) 873-7701 |
