Troop 176 Had A Great Month!by Jim Wagoner
On Saturday, June 11th, 2004, Troop 176 of Fremont participated in the Boy Scouts of America's San Francisco Bay Area Council's annual Expo Camporall at the Alameda County Fairgrounds.
The Expo is open to the public and allows local communities to witness what Boy Scouting is all about. The event is also an opportunity for the Scouts and their leaders to develop a theme or event centered on Scouting to be judged by a panel.
Troop 176 improved upon last year's entry by creating a booth made entirely of bamboo and lashings. The members of Troop 176 had a great time completing their project and sharing it with the public. For their efforts they were awarded 3rd Place overall on their booth, recognized by the District Judges and also won the People's Choice award as voted on by all Expo attendees.
Troop 176 meets on Monday nights at the Centerville Presbyterian Church on Central Avenue and currently has over 80 registered youth members. Anyone interested in joining may contact Gary Louie, Scoutmaster for Troop 176 at (510) 745-0516.
