Celebrity Basketball Action Set for April 17th
A fun and unique event has been set for Saturday, April 17th at Fremont Christian School, 4760 Thornton Ave., Fremont to benefit Royal Family Kids Camp (for abused and neglected children) and the African American Ethnic Sports Hall of Fame. The family fun night will begin with a wheelchair basketball game demonstration by two nationally known Bay Area teams, followed by musical entertainment by Fremont recording artist, Christie Hardwick Vianson
A highlight of the event will be a celebrity basketball game featuring Bay Bomber, Roller Derby stars, Calif. Women's Baseball League players and some local talent that sought other professions even though the NBA was pleading for their services. Names such as Weed, Manayan and Wieckowski could have been making court history alongside Baylor, West, Bird, Russell, Thurmond, Abdul-Jabbar and other hall of fame folk, but chose a different path in life. Come see what might have been as they show what the NBA has missed all these years!
Many door prizes have been donated by celebrities and include a signed book by John Madden, several signed cookbooks by Martin Yan and a signed Lion King DVD by Whoopi Goldberg. Tickets for two to the 4 day Sweet & Hot Jazz Festival are included in the prizes.
Tickets prices are $15 for adults (18 and older); $10 for children (age 6 - 17). A family rate of $50 for 2 adults and three children is available. For more information and tickets, call (510) 794-0195
Planning assistance for this event from First Assembly and St. Paul United Methodist Church members.
