League of Women Voters Presents: Candidate Forums
The League of Women Voters of Fremont, Newark, and Union City (LWVFNUC), a non-profit organization that promotes civic participation, is holding a candidate forums for several election campaigns on February 16, 2004. "The League of Women Voters sponsors forums so that voters can better understand the candidates' views and abilities on real issues," said Alex Starr, President of LWVFNUC. "Moreover, the League's award winning web-site 'Smartvoter.org' provides valuable information and tools to help voters assess campaigns and candidates' statements and to get clear, honest answers to their questions," she added. The League has invited candidates running for the following campaigns: Board of Education of Alameda County, Union Sanitary District and State Assembly- 20th District to participate in the public forums. The public is invited to attend and ask question of the candidates. The forums will be held from 7:30 to 9:15 p.m. on February 16, 2004 at the Comcast Studios on 500 Mowry Avenue in Fremont. The forums will be aired on local cable channels throughout the month of February. Please check with your local cable channels for timings.
