Community invited to review student discipline policiesby Gary Leatherman
The Fremont Unified School District is inviting parents and other interested community members to attend a meeting Oct. 18 at 7 p.m. in the Board Room of the FUSD Education Center, 4210 Technology Drive, to discuss district student discipline policies currently under consideration or recently approved by the Board of Education.
The policies govern suspensions and expulsions, detention, voluntary and involuntary transfers, appeals procedures and other discipline issues both for regular-education students and for students with special needs. Participants in the meeting will have an opportunity to review both the policies and the administrative regulations that guide policy implementation.
Anyone interested in studying the policies and the preliminary wording of the revisions in preparation for the Oct. 18 meeting can access the text of the documents in the Aug. 24 and Sept. 21Board Agendas posted on the FUSD web site at www.fremont.k12.ca.us. The policies under consideration are 5114, 5114.2, 5114.3, 5114.6, 5114.7 and 5114.8. Questions may be directed to the FUSD Pupil Personnel Services Department at 659-2534. |
