August brings easy wine lessons on the Wine Train
Enjoy a guided tour of the wines of famous Livermore Valley wineries conducted by a professional sommelier onboard the historic Niles Canyon Railroad every Saturday in August. Your trip starts in the quaint town of Sunol, just minutes from Fremont on Highway 84 through Niles Canyon. The historic Niles Canyon Railway station built by Southern Pacific is located at 6 Kilkare Road, Sunol, adjacent to the tracks the Southern Pacific Railroad used as their main line. Parking is easy at the station.
The ride is a leisurely two-hour wine tour through Niles Canyon. Guests must be over 21-years-old. Passengers will receive their own Niles Canyon Railway (NCRY) wine glass and acrylic buffet plate - a lasting reminder of your wine tasting trip.
The Wine Tasting Special passenger $25 package includes: Passage on board the NCRY Wine Tasting Special; information about the chosen winery; full wine tasting notes for each wine presented; an NCRY wine glass and special plate with glass holder; tasting of five to six wines chosen for the evening; breads and cheeses matched with the wines.
Limited tickets are available online at www.ncry.org, at the Sunol Depot on operating Sundays or call the chief station agent at (408) 249-2953. You can also send an email to Ttickets@NCRy.org.
