Gymnasts march on to Western Nationals

"Spin" did it again. Amanda Spinner continued her fantastic season, landing a first place finish in the Junior B age division all-around competition at the Level 9 Regional Championships in Reno, Nevada, on April 16 and 17. Spinner, representing Bay Aerials Gymnastics of Fremont, placed first in the all-around with a score of 37.775. She also hit firsts on the floor exercise with a 9.675, the balance beam with a 9.65, and the uneven bars with a 9.45. Spinner's 9.00 was good for sixth place on the vault.
The Regional championships brought together the top Level 9 gymnasts from Northern and Southern California, Nevada, Utah and Arizona. Based on their all-around scores, Spinner and her five Bay Aerials teammates all qualified to compete in the Western Nationals at the Washington University Field House in St. Louis, Missouri, May 5 to 8.
Ashley Morgan placed first on the floor with a 9.575, launching her to a third place finish in the Junior C all-around. Morgan scored a 9.45 to earn fourth place on the bars. Her all-around score was 36.725.
Bay Aerials had a pair of fourth place all-around finishers. Emily Ota, competing in the Junior D age division, was the model of consistency. Ota placed first on beam with a 9.55, third on floor with a 9.525, sixth on vault with a 9.075, and 12th on bars with a 9.00. Her all-around score was 37.15. Danielle Mosqueda's 36.40 earned her a fourth place in the all-around in the Senior B division. Mosqueda placed second on beam with a 9.35, tied for seventh on floor with a 9.275, and took 10th on bars with a 9.025.
Jennifer Mueller earned 10th place in the Junior D all-around on the strength of a pair of eighth-place finishes in the individual events. Mueller tumbled to a 9.375 on the floor and swung to a 9.25 on the bars.
In the Senior D group, Kelsey Romoser scored a 9.075 on vault, good for fifth place, and hit a 9.125 on floor, good for ninth place. Romoser was seventh all-around, scoring a 35.30.
Lisa Aguirre, Maria Traggio, and Neil Gallant coached the Bay Aerials Level 9 team.
